Uniting for the Cause of Liberty

"A Primary object... should be the education of our youth in the science of government. In a republic, what species of knowledge can be equally important? and what duty more pressing on its legislature than to patronize a plan for communicating it to those who are to be the future guardians of the liberties of the country?" ~ George Washington.

‘Where are the guardians of liberty?’ I can’t tell you how many times that question has run through my head. We live in a time when it seems like our government would do anything to get more power. They seem to be working tirelessly to get in control, and we seem to have no power to stop them. If they want healthcare passed, they will pass it, regardless of whether or not it is constitutional. The supreme law of the land means nothing to these people. They don’t seem to care about me or you. They only care about themselves. When you speak out against them, you’re called a ‘racist,’ ‘hate-monger,’ ‘un-American,’ or you might just be ignored. When hundreds of thousands of people show up at Washington D.C. to protest, only a hand full of news networks give them any considerable coverage, and then congress just goes and does whatever they want to do. Polls have shown that the majority of the American people do not want the healthcare bill to pass. The bill that the senate is going to vote on hasn’t even been seen by anyone but Harry Reid and a few top democrats. The bill on the floor is not the bill to be voted on. If they pass this bill, it will be the first time in history that we will have to purchase something just because we’re American citizens. If we don’t purchase health insurance, we will be fined or serve jail time.

When the country goes into a financial crisis, our government says the answer is to spend more money. Tell me how much sense that makes! Go ask your parents what they would do if they had financial problems. I bet they don’t say “go on a shopping spree.” The government has made our debt go through the roof, almost literally. We have over $12 trillion in debt, making us pass our national debt limit. Just to give you an idea of how much 1 trillion is, if you started counting now, you would die before you finished. But they go and spend it like it’s nothing. And there’s a funny thing about debt, you have to pay it all back one day.

They tax our parents like crazy and then still say that isn’t enough. But the government knows how to use our parent’s money better than they do, right? Look, taxes are necessary, but many times the government can get carried away on how much is necessary. When 50% of everything you earn goes to the government, that’s unnecessary. You see, if I came up to you and said “Give me half of all of your money or I will lock you in my basement.” I could be arrested. But somehow, it’s okay when the government says “Give me half of your money or we’ll throw in jail.” No, it’s not. It’s the same thing, only they make the laws.

A lady in our study group asked, “What can you think of in your life that the government is not involved in?” My father pondered on that for a while and said that he couldn’t think of a lot. You think about it… They are involved in almost everything in our lives. That’s not the way it’s supposed to be. The Founders wanted limited government and for the people to be able to govern themselves for the most part. But the government we have now is full of elitists that think they know better than us and our parents. I think that I like the Founders’ system better. They made this country; they knew how things were supposed to work.

Who are the guardians of liberty? George Washington said that the youth would be the future guardians of liberty. Sorry, but there isn’t any “future guardian” about it. If liberty is to survive, we have to start now. I know that government may not be your favorite subject, but so much is at stake. It is our duty to learn and to fight. We are all guardians of liberty.

I am rebooting The Valley Forge Project. This is our Mission Statement:
Our mission is to unite America’s youth for the cause of liberty. We will give the Young Men and Women of this country a cause to fight against a government that has been deemed by many to be “out of control”. We will fight for liberty. We believe that education is key to saving our liberty. Therefore, we will dedicate ourselves to a higher standard of learning. We recognize that our youth are in a state of moral decline. From the Founders own words, we have gathered that if a free state is to be kept, the people must be morally righteous. Therefore, we will commit ourselves to living higher standards, values and principles. We hope that in the end we may, along with other organizations, restore this country to the original framework that the Founders put in place, allowing every man, woman and child in America to enjoy the freedoms that our Founders intended.

I’ve said before that you are liberty’s hope. She needs you now more than ever. I beg you to fight. I’m not going to look at my children and tell them that I didn’t think there was anything I could do so I didn’t try. I will look at them and say that I did everything I could. I will tell them that I tried. I will not let them grow up under an oppressive government without a fight. They deserve a chance. I’m going to do everything I can to give it to them. I would hope that you would do the same.
